Practice areas

Five practice areas. One senior operator.

Every engagement is scoped in writing, priced up front and led by Heather from first call to final handoff.

01 · Practice area

Regulatory Strategy & Compliance

Stay in good standing with your regulators, and be ready when they call.

For example: a market-conduct exam on the calendar, or complaints climbing.

From the track record

Heather built the compliance program that cut combined state DOI and carrier complaints 80% at a national MGA and FMO. Every carrier audit closed without adverse action. She has also worked inside a state insurance regulator.

What we do

  • DOI and market-conduct exam readiness
  • Carrier and TPA audit preparation
  • Complaint-reduction programs: call QA, consent controls, agent discipline
  • Producer licensing, appointments and agency due diligence
  • Fraud pattern detection and regulator engagement
  • Rate, form and filing coordination with carrier partners

AI Strategy & Governance

Know where AI will, and won't, move the needle, then put it into production under controls a regulator would accept.

For example: a vendor pitch you want a second opinion on.

From the track record

Heather took an AI company from concept to revenue and led it through the FedRAMP 20x pilots to Class C (Moderate) certification. She has briefed commissioners and staff at 40+ state and federal regulatory bodies on AI governance.

What we do

  • AI readiness assessment and ranked opportunities
  • Independent vendor shortlists, with every relationship disclosed
  • Governance frameworks: NIST AI RMF, SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI DSS
  • FedRAMP readiness for platforms selling to government
  • Regulator-facing AI use cases: consumer affairs, complaints, fraud
  • Rollout, training and adoption tracking

Crisis & Turnaround Leadership

Interim, hands-on leadership when the business is under real pressure.

For example: a carrier exit, a sudden departure or a cash-flow crunch.

From the track record

As CEO, Heather kept agencies and policyholders whole when carriers exited states or discontinued products. As a regulator's spokesperson she handled wildfire and flood response and public rate hearings.

What we do

  • Rapid assessment in the first two weeks
  • Interim executive leadership with decision authority
  • Carrier exits and product discontinuations
  • Stabilization plans for cash, people and customers
  • Stakeholder, regulator and press communication
  • Restructuring and reductions in force, done humanely

What we do

  • Operational and cultural due diligence
  • Licensing, appointments and trust-account review
  • Integration planning and the first 100 days
  • Systems, commission and payroll consolidation
  • Investor and lender reporting

Major Initiatives & Modernization

Senior oversight for the complex initiative your team can't run while running the business.

For example: a system replacement, a state expansion, or retiring the spreadsheet everyone secretly hates.

From the track record

Heather expanded into seven new states, added carrier relationships and product lines spanning ACA, accident, critical illness, dental, vision and fixed-indemnity coverage, and oversaw rollouts of CRM, enrollment, finance and commission platforms. She holds a Nielsen Norman Group UX certification.

What we do

  • Program governance, risk tracking and executive reporting
  • CRM, telephony, enrollment, finance and commission system rollouts
  • Carrier and benefits-administration integrations
  • New-state and new-product launches
  • Change management that sticks, designed around the people who use it
